President Pezeshkian extends condolences on passing of Pope Francis

In a message on Monday, President Pezeshkian extended his sympathies to Catholics around the world, as well as to the followers and admirers of the spiritual leader of Catholics worldwide.

The president highlighted the pope’s humanitarian stance against inhumane acts, particularly the Israeli regime’s actions in the Gaza Strip, and his calls for an end to the massacre of Palestinian women and children. Pezeshkian stated that Pope Francis’s name and memory will live on in the hearts of those who seek freedom.

The Iranian president emphasized that as the leader of the Catholic community, Pope Francis dedicated his life to promoting the teachings of Jesus Christ, particularly peace, justice, and freedom, as well as fostering interaction among followers of different religions and dialogue to achieve friendship and security.

Pezeshkian stated that he commemorates the pope’s memory on behalf of the Iranian nation, which has always been a pioneer in promoting peace, global security, dialogue, and solidarity among religions. In accordance with Islamic tradition, he wishes for Almighty God to grant the pope’s soul eternal peace.
